Ingredients:
100gm Split red gram
50gm Onion
½ tsp Mustard seeds
1/4tsp Turmeric
1tbsp Chilly powder
4 Green chilies
1 tsp Tamarind
1tsp Jaggery (to taste)
1tsp Garam masala
Oil
To taste Salt
(a) 2 lit (b) 1.5lit Water
Method:
Clean, wash and soak the gram for half an hour and cook till soft. (Water amount (a) if Chapaties are to be served with Amti; otherwise as given in (b). 2, Heat oil and add mustard seeds; when they cackle add slit green chilies and chopped onion. When the onion is tender add chilly powder, turmeric and garam masala. 3, Add the cooked gram, bring to boil, add tamarind juice, jaggery and salt.
